My aunt had a wonderful surprise party for her 50th birthday. My cousins and I had planned the party since a year ago! We wanted it to be small and intimate, a party only for family and close friends. The theme was Hot Pink and Orange.
On top of the surprise party, we had another surprise for her: My cousin, Faheem who was supposed to come home from London on July 20th, came back early to specially surprise his mom on her birthday. Double surprise for her! Faheem who was working as a chef in London, cooked a three course meal for the dinner guests. We hope that everyone had enjoyed themselves that night and may it be a birthday to remember for years, and years to come!
* The Birthday Group
The order of the day:
(1) Preparing the party area
(2) Boys will be boys!!.. Still have time to play..
(3) I made one centerpiece for the coffee table and six flower posies in white pots consisting of roses, carnations and mums in shades of hot pink and orange

(4) Setting up table I see.. Good!..
(5) Chef at work! Favorite phrase: Out of my kitchen!!
(6) Everything ready, just waiting for the Birthday Girl
* The special birthday tiara and sash. The themed confetti are flowers in hot pink and orange and numerical 50s cut-outs
* The delicious birthday cake from Just Heavenly
* The party table setting. Just a simple one because the Chef did 'plating' meaning the three course meal came straight from the kitchen to the guests. It was still a buffet style sitting due to a shortage of tables and chairs :P
(7) Finally, the surprise... :P
* Her first surprise!
* Her second surprise!!
(8) Cake time..
* Make a wish!
*Yeay..Happy Birthday Mak Farid!
(9) The birthday showcase
* Notice the LCD screen: We played a video celebrating the 50 years in my aunty's life. Saw the tears in her eyes.. We are happy that she enjoyed her party :)
(10) Birthday girl with friends

(11) Today's Menu

* Beef and Lamb Roast Dinner
* Smoked Chicken Salad with Mango Chilli
* Beef lasagne piping hot
* Mini cupcakes in theme colors

English Country Rose
One of my favorite project is this one! I was asked to arrange a flower centerpiece for this classic looking urn to put on a coffee table. The client requested pastel colored flowers with a touch of elegance. After going to the heart of the city browsing and looking for the flowers, I finally manage to find what I was looking for. I wish I can have them for my home :)
* The vase was from Laura Ashley Home Collection
* The flowers were SIA flowers, aren't they gorgeous
and almost look like the real thing!

Themed Party Favors
I love all birthday parties especially children parties! And these days, party favors or goody bag is a must have at children parties. Being a children party planner, I have made hundreds of favors. I take personal joy in preparing these; finding the special items according to the theme, matching colors and sizes; and not to forget, according to the budget.
Items in party favors should be well selected to reflect your party theme. It has to have a special meaning but not necessarily be expensive. It has to be of 'value' to the receiver so as not to let them toss it at the end of the party. I have seen many party favors poorly assembled and it is sad. Most of them contains 'nothing' in particular and ends up in the wastebasket.
My tips for a good children party favor is first- stick to the theme. If it consists of a few items, at least pick one 'plaything' for example bubbles or balloons, one 'thing to eat' like sweets or chocolates and one 'to keep' like a notebook or hairclip. And you will have one guest smiling all the way home :)
Sharing some of the favors with you here. You can see more of these favors at My Projects link: http://www.pretty-parties.blogspot.com/
