Faridah's 50th!

My aunt had a wonderful surprise party for her 50th birthday. My cousins and I had planned the party since a year ago! We wanted it to be small and intimate, a party only for family and close friends. The theme was Hot Pink and Orange.

On top of the surprise party, we had another surprise for her: My cousin, Faheem who was supposed to come home from London on July 20th, came back early to specially surprise his mom on her birthday. Double surprise for her! Faheem who was working as a chef in London, cooked a three course meal for the dinner guests. We hope that everyone had enjoyed themselves that night and may it be a birthday to remember for years, and years to come!

I love these! They are very pretty and come in various shades. The designs are intricate and made from comfortable and cooling fabric to be worn in our warm weather.

English Country Rose

One of my favorite project is this one! I was asked to arrange a flower centerpiece for this classic looking urn to put on a coffee table. The client requested pastel colored flowers with a touch of elegance. After going to the heart of the city browsing and looking for the flowers, I finally manage to find what I was looking for. I wish I can have them for my home :)

Themed Party Favors

I love all birthday parties especially children parties! And these days, party favors or goody bag is a must have at children parties. Being a children party planner, I have made hundreds of favors. I take personal joy in preparing these; finding the special items according to the theme, matching colors and sizes; and not to forget, according to the budget.

Items in party favors should be well selected to reflect your party theme. It has to have a special meaning but not necessarily be expensive. It has to be of 'value' to the receiver so as not to let them toss it at the end of the party. I have seen many party favors poorly assembled and it is sad. Most of them contains 'nothing' in particular and ends up in the wastebasket.

My tips for a good children party favor is first- stick to the theme. If it consists of a few items, at least pick one 'plaything' for example bubbles or balloons, one 'thing to eat' like sweets or chocolates and one 'to keep' like a notebook or hairclip. And you will have one guest smiling all the way home :)

Two Surprised 50th Birthday in half of 2009!

A surprised birthday party planned by my nieces and I to celebrate my sister in law 50th birthday! The idea came at the last minute because my nieces did not expect their mother to arrive from Kota Bharu to KL that week. I sort of put the idea into their heads and we came up with a good plan. They told her that they are bringing her to dinner at a seafood restaurant. Meanwhile arrangements were made for an intimate barbeque dinner with only the daughters and son in law; and a few other family members.

The climax was definitely when she arrived there. She was wondering why the house was dark as if no one was home and why drop by there instead of going to the restaurant. We all hid in the dark and as she moves closer, we sprung and shouted "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!..."

We can see the surprised expression on her face and how delighted she was. We achieve what we aim for, a SURPRISE Birthday Party indeed :P

As usual being the family's 'party planner' as they call me, I was in charge of everything from party setting to food. First, I bought the special 50th birthday banner and tiara. So, I chose the theme from the color on them, Purple and Gold- to mark a golden celebration. Then, I bought matching themed serviettes, confetti, cute purple shades butterflies and flowers namely Madonna lilies and purple orchids to set the mood.

Gifts Fit For A Princess

I was given a project to make a special handcrafted envelope to be presented to Her Royal Highness, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Sultan Iskandar for a charity event. Apart from the envelope, there were gifts in the form of cookery books as Her Highness is very fond of cooking. Beautiful presentation and luxurious look is a must. I scouted for gold wrapping papers and imported exclusive matching ribbons and decorated with exquisite flowers and spices bouquet.




* The initial wrapped gift with flowers and ribbons only. Later,
I re-assembled it and inserted additional spices bouquet as can
be seen in the other picture. The spices include fragrant cinnamon
sticks,cardamon pods, star anise and aniseed

* The special envelope contains a donation to HRH charity
foundation, TAFF (Tunku Azizah Fertility Foundation) hence the
tiny details of miniature hand, feet and pacifier! I chose pink and blue
ribbons to represent baby gender, girl or boy
